§ 22-473. Special requirements.

  • (a)

    All private sewage disposal system installation and/or pumping contractors operating within the county shall be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

    (b)

    All private sewage septage disposal sites within the county shall be inspected by the health department annually to determine compliance with the provisions of this division. If the disposal sites are determined to be unacceptable, the health department shall issue written notices to the users and owners of that site informing them that the site shall not be used for disposal of said septage.

    (c)

    All private sewage disposal system pumping contractors operating within the county or homeowner servicing his personal residence sewage disposal system shall supply a list of all septage disposal sites being utilized by said contractor or homeowner to the health department.

    (d)

    Holding tanks shall have access provided over the inlet and outlet of the tank to facilitate inspection and cleaning. The manhole or access opening shall have a fitted lid with a minimum dimension of 12 inches (width or diameter). Risers shall be watertight and constructed of a durable material. If a two-compartment tank is used, and the tank has an opening over the wall between the compartments, access to the center opening shall also be installed. The joint between the holding tank and risers shall be watertight and shall extend to the ground surface to facilitate inspection and cleaning.
